An Icarus; as I am,
Had flown too close to the sun
And the wings that had once carried me
We’re melted and gone.
Yet no words can describe the ever growing fear
As I watch the ground grow
Plummeting onto the same land,
Prohibiting the life I will never know.
But it reminds me of a love,
Once filled with promise and hope,
Also dead and gone.
For they had been an Icarus too,
Who had flown too close to the sun.
