Display – Poetry by John Grey

The tree outside
my window
is almost leafless—

it’s November –

that’s to be expected

as seasons change,
it will bud again,
and bloom
with fruit and greenery –

I am in awe
and just a little jealous –

according to my pastor,
I am meant to be hopeful.
