For the first time in nearly five years, Vita Brevis is closed for submission. Rest assured, Anthology IV (What is All This Sweet Work?) is still on its way. However, after its publication, Vita Brevis is going to take some time to rest. It will be back, life permitting; hopefully better than ever.
Until then, it’s been my supreme pleasure working with you. I started Vita Brevis in a cramped dorm room nearly five years ago. I had no idea how many lives it would touch, and I never expected to forge so many creative partnerships, so many friendships.
A lot has changed since then, but this little poetry magazine has remained a constant for the thousands of people who read it and the hundreds who wrote it. This could have been yet another magazine drowned out in a sea of its doubles, but you made it a sunspot in the literary shadows. You gave it voice. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
But there’s one more thing to do…
Some of you have been with me from the very beginning; others came later and shared their first publications with our wonderful community.
If any of you would like to submit a memory of Vita Brevis, you can do so by emailing vitabrevispress@pm.me
Though this poets’ cafe is about to quiet down, I’d like to publish a collection of memories. They’ll appear on the front page until we turn the lights back on.
I’ll see you soon.
Your friend and editor,
Brian Geiger
