Colour Blind – Ursula O’Reilly

Sol LeWitt – Irregular Vertical and Horizontal Bands of Color Superimposed

The heavens are suspended
The clouds are heavy, low.
Beneath their leaden armour
Luminescent colours glow.

They breeze into daydreams,
Animate your night.
Drift into your visions,
Fill gloom with dazzling light.

Don’t give your time to creatures
Who dream in white and black.
Their wishes fogged in dreary grey
Too heavy to take flight.

Let the colours find you,
Resplendent in your hand.
Do not expect the colour blind
To witness or understand.

  1. Very fine poem, Ursula. It’s power stems from the restraint (both in language and form) with which you treat a serious subject.
    My hat’s off to you.
