
Red-headed woodpecker flitters
imitation of aspen leaves in breeze
as it hangs upside down
from bird-leg thin limbs to harvest
hiding insects; if it falls
wings will right the world in a swoop
and another grasp of limb among insect bounty.
About the Poet
Diane Webster grew up in Eastern Oregon before she moved to Colorado. She enjoys drives in the mountains and takes amateur photographs.
