New Construction – Poetry by Gary Beck

Richard Diebenkorn – Knife in Glass

Castles were built for defense,
palaces for luxury
with the advent of the nation state
that established borders,
so siege craft became obsolete,
except for police departments
that rarely use cannons
for forced entry.
So most modern buildings
nowadays made of glass,
vulnerable to anything,
only remain intact
from the security of the state.
