EDITOR’S CHOICE AWARD: Bringing some of my favorite previously published poems back to the front page.
Behind the new wire fences
age-old disturbances settle,
persistent wounds heal.
Trees spring from buried memory.
Though the sky still leadens
like a sketch hurried in charcoal,
time travel becomes possible.
Paw deeply enough beneath
the knitted soil, and the trace of
whatever you left behind emerges.
