Upper Forge – Poetry by Chantale Davies

Ralph Hotere – Dawn/Water Poem (after Manhire)

Like splintered stained-glass, dawn breaks
over country lanes aspiring to naught
and slowly, the village wakes
to seek what the new day has brought.
A pebble ripples on water,
the cottages around totter,
felt by oblivious dwellers beside it,
reposing in the trembling quiet.
