Lament – Poetry by Julianna McCarthy

Rene Magritte – The Window

There is too much light
too much spring and
the days getting longer
urging the sun to linger
melting the least last snow
too much spring and
green shoots in tall shadows
small boots and mittens
packed away for ever
too much spring and
there is too much light.
