The artist,
feeding mostly our meals,
tough but not inedible,
able to stand up to the heat
yet yielding more in the mild,
putting up with rain like a lake,
common though still a fraction
and ripe with the manifold essentials;
is little else than oat
occupying a corner in the wheat.
About the Poet
Carson Pytell is a poet living in a small town outside Albany, NY.
