Poetry by Cliff Saunders
Sometimes you buzz with silence
while sitting on a ghost horse.
Sometimes you just come to watch
garbage burn behind the chaos
of dueling hate rallies.
Sometimes you just don’t need
that rumbling in your life
that’s hurting you.
You could ask for a blue plaque
to frame your face, but you never
rise to the symbolic.
Your personal cloning manual
seems to be missing
Why don’t you just make
a happy brain from sea ice?
Open your eyes to another mile
of vengeance, of academic absurdity.
Vodka will make you do that.
It makes you yearn for
the totem pole of a famous moth.
You’ve entered the second season
of you, and wait ‘til you hear
that old clock on your wall making
sand like an experienced oyster!
