Whispered Tones – Poem by Ann Christine Tabaka

Poetry by Ann Christine Tabaka

Do not speak to me
in whispered tones.
I wish to hear a clear
loud ringing of the bell.
No hushed words
to hide a truth that does not exist.
The past does not preside,
except in one’s own mind.
We hide so well within ourselves,
gambling trusted memories.
Circumstances do not allow
the reliving of lost lives.
I want to shout to the mountains.
I want to sing to the seas.
A conversation that opens up
the wounds of all who bleed.
It is time to confront the beast.
It is time to tell the story.
We can no longer conceal,
what we cannot convey.
Do not speak to me
in whispered tones.
Veracity is at hand.
