Mourning – Poem by M.P.

Poetry by M.P.

She sat but a statue in the upholstered chair
Her burden weighed heavy, too much to bear
She emitted not a sound, nor movement made
For thoughts of the parents who peacefully laid
In death would they find a just reprieve
Oh, how unfeeling of them to give in and leave
In her mourning garb she was determined to remain
Outward and inward she struggled in vain
