Poetry by Heidi Slettedahl
One by one the pots get broken,
hurled off the ledge
by wind, not violence
and the helpful hand of a garden chair upturned.
Earth finds its way to earth,
slabs of concrete breaking the journey.
Old roots lie exposed.
The rain comes at the wrong time
Too soon to shift the dirt
Too muddy now to rescue flowers turned upside down
Instant gratification gardener
Instantly unearthed
