Someday is a soliloquy sitting on one’s lap
drenching our feet as we stand.
It follows us as though we truly mean
to speak of what we say, but as unruly self-
judgment paces our steps, we placed this ‘thing’
back where we believed it belonged. Now, set
on a shelf just behind us, among the many books
we’ve dreamed of being, it drips down the casing
and floods itself back toward our feet, to once
again climb and sit, awaiting, our voice.
