A Poem by Wil Michael Wrenn

Light and Shadows
Walking in and out of shadows,
Trying to stay a step ahead,
Our lives are intertwined with shadows
Though we seek the light instead.

Shrouded in the morning mist,
Blinded by the noonday sun,
Overcome by gathering night,
But always searching for the light.

People come, and people go
While we long for love and life
And friends to stand beside us
And divine hands to guide us
Out of shadows into light.

Fragmentary, momentary,
Our lives are like the days
Which pass so swiftly by.
Running in and out of shadows,
Groping for the light,
Trying so hard to live
Before we have to die.

Dancing ‘round and ‘round in moonlight,
Running in and out of shadows
Before we have to say good-bye,
Reaching upward to the light
Until it’s time for us to fly.
