*EDITOR’S CHOICE AWARD: Bringing some of my favorite previously-published poems back to the front page*

it’s not been a busy day.
now
none of them are
anymore. smoked
2 cigarettes
and ate
eggs for breakfast.
read a book
by the window
and stayed in bed
til 4pm
with her beside me,
sleepy,
loved,
legs
up
and bent
like rooftops
or low
mountains.
About the Poet
DS Maolalai recently returned to Ireland after four years away, now spending his days working maintenance dispatch for a bank and his nights looking out the window and wishing he had a view. His first collection, Love is Breaking Plates in the Garden, was published in 2016 by the Encircle Press. He has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Lovely poems. Has a lulling quality. Thanks for posting again.
A wonderful choice Brian. I love the short simplicity and vivid imagery.
