Poets walk around skinless. We don’t mean to, but
it’s the only way we can feel the breath of the world.
And when you hurt us—in any way—we won’t keep your
dirty little secret. We won’t spare you. We won’t even
protect you. But, we will redeem the ruin through
our words. It’s the only true redemption that awaits you.
The bruises and scars left behind become floods—tiny
magnum opi—eternal and beautiful. But make
no mistake: We don’t do it for you. We do it for those
who have neither the voice, nor courage, to
convert your sins into impenetrable
truths—words of armor that may
one day, after we are
long gone, protect
others from
devils
such as
you.

Awesome poetry! Words so true. ☺
Definitely the truth–and beautifully done.
Loved it
Beautiful words. Voice the true essence of poetry and the string thought behind it.
This resonates, especially the beginning,
“Poets walk around skinless. We don’t mean to, but
it’s the only way we can feel the breath of the world”
